Bobcat Statue

Starting graduate school is an exciting new step in life that can feel a little daunting, since you’re not an undergrad taking basics anymore. Graduate-level classes can be more challenging and time consuming, but don’t fear, Texas State is here! TXST has some incredible resources and events for grad students to make you feel relaxed and at-home during your time as a Bobcat!

Student Services

Grad students have access to all services offered to students. Take advantage of Career Services and get help with your resume or interview skills. Head over to the Rec Center and climb the rock wall or lift some weights. Use all the computers, printers, and software you need at one of the many computer labs. And of course, if you feel overwhelmed or just need someone to talk to, schedule a free session at the Counseling Center.

Texas State 3MT

The University of Queensland created an awesome research communication competition that Texas State is proud to be a part of. Grad students from all around the world have three minutes to present a compelling speech on their thesis or dissertation research and its significance. The challenge and knowledge this competition creates is incredible, but if that is not enough, you can take home the prize of up to $1,000!

Graduate Scholarships and Fellowships
Texas State offers a variety of scholarships and fellowships to new and continuing grad students. These can cover tuition, supplies, reimbursements for test fees and travel expenses, and monetary grants. All you have to do is check out the “Graduate Funding Opportunities” database and apply for the options you qualify for!

Grad College Shop Talks

Texas State offers workshops specifically tailored to graduate students that cover a wide variety of topics. Some topics for the coming months include: “Presenting Virtually: Increase Interactivity and Engagement in your Online Presentation” and “Link Up with LinkedIn” and “Your Own Worst Critic, Dealing with Perfectionism in Graduate School.” For some of these sessions, you can even earn professional certificate of completion to add to your resume! These are always free, and you can attend as many as you would like!

Graduate Student Appreciation Week

For an entire week during the school year, Texas State celebrates you! They will host socials, offer wellness activities, and put on tons of different events and workshops- all free. A fan favorite has been the cheese and wine night, but an international luncheon and “Coffee and Coloring” both also have brought in crowds of grad students. This week was created to recognize the value, impact, and contributions that graduate students have made at Texas State and in the community. This is a can’t-miss week full of prizes and excitement!
