Spring Brings Change for LBJ Student Center

Null

The Fall semester is ending— finals are here and winter break is just weeks away. Even so, the LBJ Student Center expansion continues to push forward through the coming holidays in the effort to begin the Spring semester with exciting updates. Chick-fil-A and George’s will both reopen at the start of the Spring semester, new and improved to better serve students.

Chick-fil-A has helped make the LBJ Student Center one of the most consistently visited locations on campus. Because of that high volume, Chick-fil-A closed for renovation back at the beginning of November in an effort to better accommodate that demand. That didn’t stop students from visiting the Student Center, thanks in part to the great events George’s hosted throughout the semester, such as movies, bingo nights, comedy shows, and the Succulent Planting Party. What’s most impressive about these wonderful events is the fact that they were all hosted in various locations throughout the Student Center while the George’s location was closed for renovations. Students have even more to look forward to in the spring when both Chick-fil-A and George’s have their Grand Openings.

When students return after the break, they can look forward to an expedited experience at the improved Chick-fil-A with more checkout lanes and a dedicated meal trade line, as well as an expanded list of menu items, such as spicy chicken sandwiches, milkshakes and more. On top of that, George’s will host a whole new look with new lighting, flooring and seating in the lounge area, as well as new pool tables, a ping pong table and TVs. George’s will now also have food options, such as pretzels, wings, nachos, jalapeno poppers and churros. With these renovations, George’s hopes to continue promoting late night and weekend events in a fun and comfortable setting for students to hang out in while on campus. George’s and Chick-fil-A will both be open on the first day of the Spring semester. George’s will have the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 2pm on January 28, 2019 and along with the reopening will host a full week of events, such as Trivia Night: “The Office” and Welcome Back Bingo. Chick-fil-A will hold its Grand Opening at 11am on February 5, 2019 and will offer giveaways of food and merchandise.

With so much changing at the Student Center, we’re excited for everyone to see it in the Spring. We hope you have a wonderful break and will see you next semester!
