  • A lot! With so many upgrades happening during the expansion, it might just feel like a whole new LBJSC; but no matter what, it is still your place to eat, study and be involved. Details of the expansion can be found on our timeline page, but some highlights include:

    • Upgrades to George's, Chick-fil-A and the Student Involvement Desk
    • A new Visitor's and Alumni Welcome Center
    • An Additional Ballroom
    • Added meeting spaces
    • and a new Multicultural Center
  • During the expansion, all students and visitors will be directed to the Bus Loop located on the North side of LBJSC. Handy pedestrian and vehicle traffic maps can be found on our Relocations and Access Page

  • Parking will remain open and fully operational at both the LBJ Student Center and Matthews Street Garages during the expansion.

  • While the LBJSC Amphitheater will be temporarily closed during the expansion, it is definitely not going away. It will re-open with partial cover and other upgrades.

  • We all need to eat! All food venues in the LBJSC Lair (except Chick-fil-A) will maintain a normal operating schedule during the expansion. Chick-fil-A will be closed in November of 2018 and re-open Spring 2019 with an expanded menu.

  • At times, yes. Moderate to high levels of construction noise is to be expected throughout the expansion. Noise will vary in degree depending on where you are in the LBJSC, the time of day and day of the week.

  • A few things may move around a bit, but all student services will maintain normal operating schedules during the expansion. A couple of important relocations are:

    • The Welcome Center will move from its current location and be temporarily relocated to 3-15.1 (Third Floor) until the new Welcome and Alumni Center is completed.
    • Student Involvement is moving to temporary offices in the lounge area directly across from its current location on the fourth floor.

For more information, be sure to check our Building Access and Relocations page

  • During the expansion, please expect moderate to heavy construction noise and interruptions to pedestrian traffic flow. The LBJSC and Conference Services will make every effort to answer your questions and provide information regarding potential impacts to events due to construction.
