Help NTSO Celebrate National Non-Traditional Student Week, the first week of November! 11/ 2 – 6/ 2009

The Association of Non-Traditional Students in Higher Education (ANTSHE) recognizes the first week of November each year as a time to celebrate non-traditional students in higher education.

Please take some time this week to reflect on what impact non-traditional students have on the Texas State University community and take the opportunity to feel pride in yourself as a non-traditional student. We know you have made sacrifices to further your education and want you to know that the Non-Traditional Student Organization (NTSO) exists to address the your needs.

We’d love to hear your personal stories and future goals. Please take the time to send us an email about what impact you believe non-traditional students have here at Texas State to ntso@txstate.edu.

Above is the NTSO Fall News letter for 2009 please feel free to download and read for your enjoyment. This is a great way to see some of the events that NTSO held last year and get to learn something interesting about your new officers

New and Exciting News for the Fall of 2009 at NTSO

Updates have been made to the previous NTSO by-laws and code of conduct. These changes will take effect in the Fall 2009 semester.   These updates will help our organization to better meet the needs of the University as well as the needs of our members.   We invite all members to please review the updates and changes we have made and encourage you, as active participating members, to provide any feedback or constructive input that you may have. A resource page has been added to TRACS to help make these new documents more readily available to our members.

Along with the changes to the by-laws and code of conduct, we will be initiating a program called Member Participation Points or MPP.  This new program is intended to provide members the opportunity to become more involved in the organization through participation in NTSO sponsored events.  Members can keep track of their own participation with the organization on a MPP Tracking Sheet that will be kept in a binder, in the lounge.  Accumulated points will determine eligibility for future awards.  This will also give us feedback on the success of individual events, so that we may program events that better suit our members.

More information on these changes will be discussed at our Member Meetings and if there are any questions, please feel free to contact any NTSO officer.
