Charles S. Cock House Museum

Cottage Kitchen Luncheons are held at the museum on Fridays from 11 a.m. to

1 p.m. Attend for a delicious home-cooked lunch served by community volunteers.

 

Dr. Eli T. Merriman Log Cabin Museum

Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Located behind the Charles S. Cock House Museum on CM Allen Parkway The Merriman Cabin was built c.1846. This log home of Dr. Eli T. Merriman and his wife and 7 children has recently been furnished with antiques appropriate to the period. The cabin was originally located near the town square. In the late 50's it was moved to Aquarena's Texanna Village. Texas State University gave the cabin to the Heritage Association in 2000.

 

LBJ Museum of San Marcos

Opened 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Thursday, Friday and Sunday afternoon and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays Located almost mid-way between metropolitan Austin and San Antonio, the Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum of San Marcos is the only Johnson site in Texas that focuses on his university student years, including the time spent teaching in Cotulla, Texas. Millie Seaton Collection of Dolls and Toys

1104 W. Hopkins

The Millie Seaton Doll Museum is another one of San Marcos's jewels. This stately, historic three-story home is overflowing with thousands of dolls and toys. Dolls from around the world are the sole residents of the historic Augusta Hofheinz House, filling every corner, nook and cranny.

Behind the museum in the garage area, you'll find a variety of primitive memorabilia, doll houses in various sizes, miniature scenes, dolls with their books, comic strip characters and nostalgic games and toys. Call

Calaboose Museum of African-American History

200 Martin Luther King Drive Papers, letters, books, photographs and antique artifacts related to local and national aspects of African American History. Special exhibits include displays relating to the Buffalo Soldiers, Tuskegee Airmen, WWII Military, Civil Rights, Ku Klux Klan, San Marcos area history, and locally born and raised Jazz great, Eddie Durham.
